C O P Y
CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WASHINGTON, D. C.
October 2, 1945 Honorable Harold Ickes, Secretary of the Interior, Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. Secretary:
I have received communications from California to the effect that the old Yosemite Valley Railroad has been sold and that it will probably be junked.
It seems to me this would be too bad. This old railroad has been one of the most picturesque things in California for a long time and I would most earnestly hope that even if it is no longer sufficiently profitable to operate it to justify that being done, that a considerable portion of its equipment can be preserved somewhere in the park or adjacent to it as items of historical interest.
Sincerely yours, (Signed)
