Mr. L. A. Foster, General Manager
Yosemite Valley Railway
Merced, California.
Dear Friend,
This is just a personal note to tell you that everything is working out perfectly. There is very little doubt, left in my mind, that my proposal will not be approved.
I am going ahead right now and organizing a new corporation to take over the properties of the Yosemite Valley.
In the letter of transmittal sent with my petition to intervene, I explained to the I.C.C. just what I proposed to do and if they approve, it will be only a short time before I gain control.
You might pass this information on to the employees.
I wonder if you would be kind enough to send me the following figures which I am in dyer need of. i.e. Transportation and Internal Revenue for each month of this year and also Tax Accruals for each month of this year, and what you estimate they will be for the entire year.
I will probably be in Merced within the next few weeks and I hope to bring a mining engineer with me. I wrote Friedberg and thanked him for the last inspection trip, and mentioned that I would probably ask the same favor again. If it becomes necessary to have another inspection trip, unless you insist, we could use a small motor car and would not require taking anyone from their regular duties.
I understand a large group of railroad fans plan a trip over the line this next May 30. If I can I would like to make the trip myself, it should prove interesting??
I have enclosed a copy of my petition which might interest you.
Yours truly, J. M. McFadden
P.S. I could use a few more copies of the current timetable. JMF.
