Dear Mr. Foster:
From what I read in the papers the Y.V. is practically "assured"
abandonment sanction. I sincerely hope something will turn up
so that is not necessary. However, I understand it is under
advisement at this time and permission may be granted at any time.
We are still working on a "memorial" or "memoir'" to the Y.V., which
should be printed shortly. What with war work and other complications
of 'living' these days this has been held up somewhat. We
feel as though it would 'do no good anyhow' as we do not have any
financial backing to put it over. However, it will be the first
time that any group has tried publishing such a publications.
My wife and I want to be among those to ride the last train, if
permission to abandon is granted. We would sincerely appreciate
receiving a copy of the official abandonment notice so that we
can lay our plans accordingly. What with transportation problems
as they are we would have to reserve our seats to Merced about
two weeks in advance.
I trust you received the Colorado Midland timetable safely.
Thanking you again for your courtesies to Mr. Pennington and myself
I am,
Cordially yours,
( Signed )
GRAHAME HARDY
