After the YVRR closed for business the equipment and rolling stock were scraped or sold. Boxcar 609 was sold to a farmer near Merced, detrucked and used as a storage shed. Over sixty plus years it has deteriotated and over grown by trees and bushes.

The proposed Yosemite Gateway Railroad Museum has been given the remains of the 609 and it is their hope to restore it to its original state.
